Palantir Government Conference Canada which will take place on
9 November 2009 at the Hampton Conference Center in Ottawa. The Conference is co-hosted by The SecDev Group and Palantir Technologies and will will showcase operational deployments of the Palantir platform across a spectrum of missions, including:
military, intelligence, cybersecurity, criminal investigations, financial regulation, and fraud detection.
The SecDev Group (
www.secdev.ca) is an Ottawa-based operational consultancy focused on regions at risk from violence and insecurity, including the cyber domain.
Palantir Technologies (
www.palantirtech.com), based in Palo Alto, California, offers a powerful platform for integrating, visualizing, and analyzing complex heterogeneous data sources including structured, unstructured, social, relational, temporal, and geospatial. The SecDev Group was one of the primary authors of the
Tracking GhostNet: Investigating a Cyber Espionage Network (
www.tracking-ghost.net) report released in March 2009, which made extensive use of Palantir to analyze data obtained through technical and human-based sources. An article featuring the work of Palantir Technologies was recently published in the

The conference will be divided into two half-day elements.
Morning sessions will provide keynote presentations highlighting high-level capabilities across a spectrum of missions, with speakers addressing the future of intelligence visualization, analysis and fusion. Confirmed presentations and speakers include:

- "GhostNet: Lessons from applying all-source data visualization to real-time cybersecurity investigations" - Rafal Rohozinski & Nart Villeneuve, SecDev.cyber
- "Developing situational awareness on the battlefield: A combined Ops and Intel platform" - Doug Philippone, Palantir Technologies
- "Data fusion and exploration in criminal investigations" - Will Barley, Palantir Technologies
- "Applying data visualization to fraud detection and financial regulation" - Alex Fishman, Palantir Technologies
During the afternoon we will be running a series of hands-on workshops on applying Palantir in the following areas:
- Military intelligence
- Data fusion and visualization for security, intelligence and criminal investigations
- Cybersecurity and cyberspace operations
- Financial and regulatory compliance and monitoring
- Hands-on training with Palantir will also be provided
Participants can join us for the entire day or for either of the two half-day sessions (each half-day session will run 3 to 4 hours). Lunch is provided for all participants.
